ABOUT
US
The Bonder and Amanda Johnson Community Development Corporation (BAJCDC) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to enhancing the lives of the people who live in the Nauck community. The organization was founded in 1999 to address the growing concern around the gentrification occurring in Arlington. The founders were committed to ensuring that Nauck residents understood their rights as homeowners and did not fall prey to speculators who were enticing and manipulating homeowners into selling their properties. At the time, more than 20% of Nauck residents had owned their home for more than 40 years. BAJ answered the call to action and organized itself in an effort to educate and support the community. It was clear to the founders that affordable housing would be an issue for years to come. In just ten years, BAJ has witnessed tremendous success, we have: · Developed and implemented a plan that facilitates architecturally pleasing redevelopment while providing incentives for affordable housing. · Negotiated more beneficial projects from specific developers. · Partnered with local organizations to build and manage 40-60 units of affordable rental housing. · Provided case management for over 200 clients at our social services center. BAJ is proud of its grassroots heritage and its
ability to keep overhead costs low while providing quality programs and
services. As we look to the future, it is our mission to expand our in
work in the community by meeting the needs of our neighbors
